Overused Platform

As a funny aside, I am working in the J2EE world right now and I am reminded of something I noticed once before. Java guys, IBM guys, you know the ones – the ones who label their proprietary technologies as “open” – love the word platform! I don’t know what it is about the word “platform” but they use it in everything they say and write.



It’s hilarious. Maybe they mean political platform as Java-heads are usually so religious about their technology. Nonetheless, “platform” is the word-du-jour for that branch of the gene pool.
